The Groups option in Blackboard enables instructors to set up student groups for projects and assignments. Group assignments are a great opportunity to collaborate with your fellow students.

Viewing Group Information

1. In a Course page, click the Communication button in the Course Menu.
2. Click the Group Page link.
3. Select the group you are assigned to. (You will only be able to access the group you are assigned to.)
4. In the Group Members section of the Group Page, the names of the members of the group will be displayed.

Each group has its own communication features, which allow you to discuss and organize assignments with members of your group. Features include:

• Group Discussion Board
• File Exchange
• E-mail

Using the Group Discussion Board

The instructor must create the group discussion board forums. To access them, take the following steps:

1. In the Group page, click the Group Discussion Board shortcut.
2. Navigate through the group discussion board as you would the course discussion board.

Using the Group File Exchange

1. In the Group page, click the File Exchange shortcut.
2. Click the Add File button.
3. Enter a name for the file in the Title box.
4. Click the Browse button.
5. Locate and select the file you want to add to the File Exchange and click the Open button.
6. Click the Submit button.
7. Click the OK button.

Note: To remove a file, click the Remove button next to the file you want to remove. Click the OK button to confirm deletion and then click the OK button to return to the File Exchange.

Using Group E-mail

1. In the Group page, click the Send E-mail shortcut.
2. In the To section, select the group members you want to send the message to.
3. Type a subject for the message in the Subject box.
4. Type your e-mail message is the Message box.
5. Optional: To add an attachment, click the Add button and then click the Browse button. Locate and select the file that you want to attach and click the Open button. Click the Submit button to add the file.
6. Click the Submit button to send the message.
7. Click the OK button.
