Start of Term Course
Maintenance
At the start of a new term,
remember to perform the following maintenance tasks for your Blackboard
course shell:
Remove Students from
Previous Term
- Logon to the course.
- Click on the Control
Panel link.
- From the Control Panel,
click on the Remove Users from Course link in the User Management
section.
- Click on the SEARCH button to
the right of the text box field. A list of students will load, with a check
box to the left of their names.
- Check the boxes for students you want
to remove.
- At the bottom of the screen, type the
word Yes.
- Click the Submit button.
Change Course Title and Categorize Course Under
Correct Term
Categorizing your course under
the correct term allows students to find the course while browsing the
Blackboard Course Catalog. To categorize your course, take the following steps:
- Logon to the course.
- Click on the Control
Panel link.
- From the Control Panel,
click on the Course Options link.
- Click on the Settings link.
- Choose Course Name and Description
- Change the course title to reflect
the current term, click the Submit button and click OK.
- Choose Categorize Course.
- Click the down-arrow
next to the Add Category Drop-Down Menu.
- Select the appropriate
category beneath the current term heading.
- Click the ADD button
next to the drop-down menu.
- Click the OK button.
Make Course Available to
Students
When you’re ready for students
to begin submitting enrollment requests, "turn on" your course by taking the
following steps:
- Logon to the course.
- Click on the Control
Panel link.
- From the Control Panel,
click on the Course Options link.
- Click on the Settings link.
- At Course Availability,
choose the YES option.
- Click the Submit
button.
Can't Find Your Course?
Take the following steps to search for your course:
- Logon to Blackboard.
- Click on the "Courses" tab.
- In the "Course Search" box, type the Course
Number (e.g.: CS121)
- Press the "Go" button.
