In the Virtual Classroom, students and the instructor have access to course documents, a white board where you can draw or add text, and the Internet. Students have the ability to ask and reply to questions. Since the interaction is real-time, all the participants must be connected to the Internet at the same time.

Accessing the Virtual Classroom

1. In the Course page, click on the Communication button.
2. Click on Collaboration.
3. Click on the Join button to the right of Virtual Classroom. As soon as you enter the Virtual Classroom, you will see your name on the display area, notifying other users that you have joined the session.

Note: You need the Java Plug-in to access the Virtual Classroom. You will not be able to access these tools if you have a pop-up blocker enabled. You can get a free download of Java software at http://java.sun.com/products/plugin/index.html or at  http://java.com/en/download/index.jsp

Not all classes use chat sessions. Many instructors prefer to use the Discussion Board in place of chats.
