Course Description: Purchasing I is an overview of the dynamics of buying, focusing on the retail buyer, off-price retail operations, off-site retail operations, market specialists, and the purchase process: planning price, timing, and making the purchase. Also included is purchasing domestically as contrasted with foreign-market purchasing, negotiating and writing the order, merchandise pricing, private label programs, disseminating product information, and the buyer's role in advertising and visual marketing.
